How to Water Weed Plants While You’re Away

How are your plants going to get watered while you are gone?

You are weeks into a grow and you don’t want to waste all that hard work, but you have a vacationed planned, need to visit some people, or visiting parents/ in-laws for a bit. What are your options to water weed plants while you are away?

How do you keep your plants alive while you are gone?

Amazon has everything

Well, the good news is, if you are using the fabric pots and tent setup from my item list then you have some room for slow release drippers or drip meters that will help water your plants without worrying about flooding your tent or over watering too much.

The fabric pots with the stonington soil really helps the soil air out and dry out more regularly. This helps give you an idea of how much water you will need each day while gone.

From there, I have found the two best ways to water on a budget is the self-watering spikes. They are simple to use. Take the spike and put a standard bottle full of water in the top. The bigger the bottle the longer the watering can last.

Only thing I found annoying was

Getting the dripper to right spot to drip enough water to matter for the size of your marijuana plant. You also need to make sure the spike it level and slightly supported. Again, can be done on a budget, but can be a little annoying and you definitely want to do a practice run before you go.

What I ultimately ended up upgrading to was an automated watering system.

Sounds expensive to water weed plants?

Nope. Not at all actually. Only three times the price of those temperamental spikes is a rechargeable pump that you decide how often and how much to put through for water. If you know you water your plant half a gallon a day you can use a google converter to milliliters and spread that out throughout the day.

Then the only other thing you need to work is a bucket full of water. The pump will pull from the bucket of water and deliver the water through a spike into the soil. I also got some trays to put under the pots in case there was any run through. However, with fabric pots the plant can suck the water back in as well.

Either way, it is best to have a way to water your weed plants while you are gone.

You must water weed plants

They grow fast and if they are budding they need that water to make the beautiful buds you will be consuming soon. I try and feed my plants nutrients before leaving since they will be getting regular water while I am gone and you can come back to see the change in your plants.

I will be writing about why you need to use nutrients with some soils, what to look for and what to do if your plants are showing signs of problems soon.

In the meantime, make sure to check out these ways of watering your plants should you decide you want to make it as automated as possible or because you are taking off on a vacation.
